Sunday Stash
Sunday Stash Report, amongst other things. This week, my stash grew a bit (which is what it needs to keep doing for awhile – it’s such a sad little stash… Mike might disagree, but he’s not yet seen all of the fabulous stashes I’ve seen here!) Through ridiculous vigilance, I scored some primo Moda charm pack and FQ deals on eBay. Keeping my eyes peeled led to charms for less than $5 (including shipping!) and 12 Kansas Troubles FQs for around $15. Not bad, not bad. It does add up, though, and once again I find myself waiting for payday. Boo!
New Heights/New Depths: For better or for worse, I now have a dedicated “string scrap basket.” After slicing through all that Anna Maria Horner, and after having recently read a bunch of things I can do with tiny little scraps (thanks to Sew, Mama, Sew’s Scrap Buster Month) I took these:

Strings
And some of their friends and plopped them into a nice, large basket to collect and stew in their own juices until I figure out what to do with them. I made a couple of hairkerchiefs, but discovered I’d bought hairbands sized for toddlers (or so it seems – they make no such claim.) Also, they don’t lie correctly, but rather stand straight up like some kind of crazy striped nurses’ hat from the 50′s:

Dur.
I think some topstitching might fix that little problem, and after stretching the bands over a rack hangar for 24 hours, they’ve loosened up and feel less like tiny boa constrictors attempting to squish my skull.
I spent Friday (which is my Saturday) running around to an estate sale (where I scored the following library table for $60!)

Library Table
I also explored an antique shop, where I found literally thousands of treasures, including many antique quilts (these are just a few – there were dozens:)

Baskets of vintage buttons:

Baskets of Buttons
An actual spinner’s wheel!

Don't see many of these anymore
I adore this vintage version of my current stand mixer:

Old Sunbeam
Of course, there were things present one might not expect to find in an antique shop:

Seriously?
It was a wonderful day, though, and I spent a good deal of time soaking in the gorgeous Michigan autumn color. We’re being gifted with a wonderful, long-lived fall.

Lovely
I got to stop and look at some wonderful old barns and farms:

Grey on Grey
It was a really good day.
I made progress on the Tetris Elemental quilt top, which I finished yesterday and will post most about at some point. But now, I have to go to work.
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone!

what a beautiful scenery shot, gorgeous fall colors. I am a country girl so I enjoyed the barns picture too, they are neat to me. I have one of those Sunbeam Mixers. Carefull with those strings. Working with them becomes addictive and you start to save every little piece to make more and more projects.
Mary-Kay says:
Be careful buying stash stuff or it will start to overtake you and your space. Try to buy stuff with a project in mind not just to add to your stash. When I first started out quilting, everyone said this and that about their stash and now mine is probably bigger than all their’s put together.Even the shop owners know that I used to buy yards of fabric just for the stash. I haven’t done much of that this year. Thank God for this stash busting group and weekly report or I might be in the poor/dog house.

I have just spent the past couple hours getting to know ya… You are a hoot!
I have laughed out loud… and wiped tears out of my eyes so I could continue to read… I’m so glad you only started a couple months ago… or I’d be here all night!
Keep at it girl – you’re doing just fine!
Erin says:
Eileen, thanks – I love old barns… they stir such a deep sense of nostalgia. As for the strings, I haven’t touched them yet – we’re sort of eying each other warily at this point.
Mary-Kay – I usually *try* to have a project in mind, but sometimes, there’s something Just Too Perfect, and I make up a project on the spot to rationalize. Sadly, I can rationalize just about anything… thanks for the advice!
Howdy – I’m really glad you’re enjoying the ramblings. I just can’t help myself at this point – I like Sharing.
I just found your site a short while ago and haven’t had time to sit down and go through it yet. Soon!
